Yep Its a pony fight! There in now a 3rd pony to add to the new mare and foal. I wasn't feeling well the other night so while laying down in my chair with my feet up on the foot stool and a dog on my lap I decided to play with the new mix of willow wax. Its new new softer mix more like clay and you don't have to heat it to use it.. I did put a slab under a lamp to keep it really soft but when you tear off some it hardens up pretty quick.. so Im forming the clay and before I knew it..I had a new pony! He just kind of grew right out of my hands! lol....I love this new stuff, its called vapor and I will definitely be ordering alot more of this.. I just have a small amount ( enough for a pony or two!) but I ordered it as a sample to try out.....its one thing I like about the willow waxes.. you can order small amounts to see if you like them, and you can even mix them with each other if you want to make your own mix. Is one too hard? Then melt in some softer wax and you have a medium mix. I also have a few samples of some really hard stuff I doubt I'll use so Ill be mixing it with some of this vapor I think. anyways, each pony will be sold separately and I may make a discount if you get all 3 or order more than one set.. well see.. But.. unfortunately Im going to have to put them all aside for a week or more to finish off he last of 08's commissions, so I can start the new year with no work hanging over my head and only new stuff to work on..well except for korys stuff.. I have enough of her bodies here to remake for the next 10 years! lol... so I will be working on hers in between everything else. She helped me get started and manages most of my sales so I owe her to at least get back to work on her stuff... Don't worry Kory I haven't forgotten about you! I just want to get these ponies out so I have an income coming in so I can survive!.
also.... This is a Pastel Painting on sanded archival museum board. It was a birthday gift for my friend and best client Jean. I had wanted to post it when I got it done but knowing she reads this blog I didn't want to let the cat out of the bag so to speak! lol
I dont have tie to do much flat work and I do miss it so every now and then I have to do something! So when jean told me about her cat brackish and how much he meant to her and her husband I knew I just had to paint him! (I love cats.. hey Im a leo!..lol Im just not able to have any at this time. I do have 2 at my x's and I do miss them so much.. but with 3 dogs.I have no more room!) so....I asked jean to see a picture of Brackish, hoping that she wouldn't be suspicious.. and she wasn't! She was totally surprised as I had hoped and says she loves it.. and thats why I did it.. I love to surprise people and make them happy. I know how I feel when I get something unexpected....it can make ones day! and make them feel special, and now days with everything going on in this world, we need those special days.. and I am so lucky to have lots of special friends to give to. so..back to work!

Brackish is kind of special to us. I had two cats for 18 years, brother and sister, Byron and Ariel. When Ariel died in June 2001, we knew Byron would be lonely, so we got Brackish- a playful young kitten who had been abandoned and rescued. Not long after we got him, in fact, on our wedding morning (which was also my late father's birthday), we lost Byron. This was a week after 9/11 and we weren't even sure if my mother could make it to the wedding. But she did. And Brackish helped us move on to the next phase of our lives. Amazing how a little kitten can do so much, but he did. He is quite a character and fully deserving of this lovely tribute. Thanks again Becky!
