Pony mold and more!

Yep here she is all clayed up and ready to go!
Pony number one is finally getting its waste mold made today! yeah!
And Im going to experiment with the pour hoe in the tail instead of the belly..I hope it works!!! if not no biggy.. if I do make the production molds I'll make the pour hole in the belly if I cant get the resin in the mold this way.. but the tail base is as big as the belly is so it should work. The reason I used the cardboard instead of my new mold frame is I wanted to use the least amount of rubber as I could get way with.. and since its only a waste mold it should be ok.. I will only be casting one or two of them anyways ... if it was a production mold Id use the frame and make a mother mold with plasti paste..( I may still do that..well see)

This is the Silicone rubber I have been waiting for and it came this morning. ( I love smooth-ons products!) I hate when I have to buy the small sample packs though like the one above...but I just cant afford the larger buckets right now, so this should be enough  to do the molds for the ponies.. at least the mare and foal. The 3rd pony which isnt close to done may have to wait.. I had wanted to release them all at one time but I think I will wait on her now.. at least for a month or two...
The foal is so small Im thinking I may just cast it how it is and finish working on the details in the resin.. its so small that its getting too soft when I work on it for me to get the tiny details. Usually the wax holds it shape really week and I can get tons of details like I did fore the mare but he is just so tiny.. he gets sooo warm when I hold him..so. I think tonight I'll just clay him up and make him a resin baby that doesn't get too soft, and I like working with epoxy .. the mare doesn't have alot to do to her but a few things I just wanted to do when she was in resin.. its hard working on theses guys when they are so darn tiny.. the wax tends to get warm and I like to hold what Im working on.. and with a lamp  or two and the heat from my hands... well they get a little warmer than Id like.

Also in the works are two resins I have been waiting to paint.. well ok one I HAVE painted 3 times now..( the valor I also remade some) well started to paint 3 times now I should say, but I could not get the right shade of color..but I think I finally have it.. so have been working on the white now which means many many coats or watery white .... I spent almost all day yesterday painting white spots.. kinda boring really but I got to catch up on all my evening tv shows I usually tape on my DVR ..I like to read at night if Im not working so I tape the shows and watch them during the day while I work, unless Im working on something that I just need so much attention I cant look up now and then... like tiny sculptures! lol so painting means I get to watch or really its mostly listening to my evening tv shows.. you know I love lost but haven't watched it in months! I have them all taped thought and when its rerun season.. I have lots of shows to watch!

Ok the other horse ( above) is one of Paul Sanders historical resins he did for Katja in Germany. Im painting this one for her and he is in oils.. I had actually started him in acrylics but  it just didn't feel right so I sat him down and looked at him for awhile and then I saw some horses done by Carol Huddelson ( http://amodelcitizen.blogspot.com/) and one by someone else which I cant remember who it was now.. but they were done in oils and I love the look ( and she is such a good painter) .... and I though... yep.. he needs to be done in oils!.. I had actually started to paint in oils a few years ago right before I moved and just never got them out again, and with so many pieces to paint I opted for pastels and acrylics to get them done faster.. oils take a while to dry even using liquin to speed up drying.. but I love the look I get so I may just start doing more pieces in oils .. so.. I'll post some resin ponies soon!
OH!  Also I still have that painted medallion (2 post down...)  for sale and im entertaining offers! so dont be afraid to give me an offer..... you might be surprised!

Wow, you are busy, Becky! I love all the little tips and details your write about. I do the same thing sometimes with the tv (taping a show at night and "listening" to it during the day while I paint)

Everything is looking great, can't wait to see it all done!
